R-Phils Salvage Series with Sunday Win

The R-Phils (11-18) used a four-run bottom of the eighth inning to beat the Akron Aeros (12-18) by a score of 5-2 on Mother's Day at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Reliever Michael Schwimer (1-1, 3.38) tossed three shutout innings out of the bullpen to earn his first win of the 2010 season. R-Phils DH Brian Stavisky went 3-4 with the game-winning two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning.

After the game, the R-Phils raffled and auctioned off the pink jerseys they wore in the game to benefit the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, thanks to 830 AM WEEU & 69 News Berks Edition. In total, the R-Phils raised $5,225 for the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. The jersey that went for the highest was Domonic Brown's, which went for $575.

The R-Phils will open up a three-game homestand with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Monday evening at 6:35 p.m. RHP Drew Naylor (2-3, 4.55) will get the nod for the R-Phils in the opener, while the Fisher Cats will counter with former R-Phil Kyle Drabek (4-2, 3.18).

Brian Seltzer will have the call beginning with the R-Phils pre-game show at 6:05 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1240 AM WIOV and readingphillies.com. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
