ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves begin a seven-game road trip and make their first trip into Canal Park as they clash in a battle of the top two teams in the Southern Division against the first place Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians). The ‘Wolves have dropped six of their last eight games following their longest winning streak of the season (six games May 8-13). Erie dropped the final two games of the Harrisburg series earlier in the week and currently sit 6.5 games behind Akron in the EL South. Erie is also on a three-game road losing streak. While Erie has the most home wins in the EL, their road record sits at two games under .500 at 7-9. The Howlers are three games ahead of third place Reading in the division...Akron has won seven of its last 10 games and is coming off of a series win against Trenton. Yesterday, Jeanmar Gomez tossed a perfect game for the Aeros in the final game of the series against the Thunder. It was the first perfect game in the minors since 2007 when former SeaWolf Guillermo Moscoso threw one for Class-A Oneonta...Lefty Jon Kibler takes the mound for the ‘Wolves, making his eighth start of the season and first against the Aeros. Kibler has alternated losses and wins in three may starts. His last outing was cut short due to heavy rains in Bowie. He was on the wrong side of a 4-0 ballgame going seven innings, allowing four runs, two earned on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Kibler has worked at least seven innings in each of his last two starts...Lefty Chuck Lofgren takes the mound for the Aeros. Lofgren picked up a win in his last outing against Altoona on May 15 going seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits with no walks and four K's.

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- Akron won the 2008 season series over Erie 13-10. The SeaWolves and Aeros meet 27 times in 2009. The 27 times is the most Erie will see an opponent in 2009.

- Erie's pitching staff ranks seventh in the league with a 3.83 team ERA. Akron has the top pitching staff in the league with a 2.83 team ERA.

- Erie's offense is tied for second in the league with a .269 team batting average. Akron is eighth in the league with a .254 team batting average.

- The SeaWolves lead the league with 46 home runs and is second with 200 runs scored. Erie has hit 11 more home runs that the next closest team (Harrisburg with 35)

- Scott Sizemore leads the league with 48 hits and is third with 27 runs scored. He is tied for second in the league with eight home runs and 20 extra-base hits.

- Boesch is tied for fourth in the league with 18 extra-base hits

- Ryan Strieby leads the league with 11 home runs and 33 runs scored while he is tied for second with 31 RBI.

- Defensively the SeaWolves are tied for second in the league with a .982 team fielding percentage. Erie has committed 26 errors this season which is the third fewest in the league. The ‘Wolves have turned 50 double plays which is third in the EL.

- Deik Scram is third in the league with a .579 slugging percentage while Strieby is fourth with a .565 slugging percentage.
