Trenton Thunder News Release
Perfection In Trenton For The First Time Ever It's not too often that we mention the accomplishments of the visiting team in a T-Mail, but what happened on Thursday morning is certainly worthy.
Akron Aeros pitcher Jeanmar Gomez pitched the first nine-inning perfect game in the history of Waterfront Park and the first in the history of the Akron Aeros franchise. That's 27 batters up, 27 batters down - no hits, walks, errors or base runners of any kind. The Aeros won by a score of 3-0.
This rare event set off a media storm that had the Thunder sending photos of Gomez and the post game celebration to media outlets throughout Ohio, to national baseball media sources and even publications in Venezuela (Gomez's home) and Panama (catcher Damaso Espino's home).
