
Emaus hits fifth home run, but Fisher Cats lose 5-3 Friday night

Manchester, NH---Brad Emaus launched a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning to give the Fisher Cats an early lead, but Trenton rallied for a 5-3 victory before 5,866 Friday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
Emaus hit his fifth home run of the season off Trenton winning pitcher Ivan Nova (3-3) to give New Hampshire a 1-0 lead.
New Hampshire (22-20) extended the lead to 2-0 with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brian Jeroloman (2-for-3, BB) led off with a double, advanced to third on an Al Quintana (2-for-4) single and scored on an RBI ground out by Todd Donovan.
Trenton (18-20) scored four of its runs in the top of the sixth inning with the help of four Fisher Cat errors. Eduardo Nunez doubled, and scored on a Colin Curtis grounder that was thrown away by Brad Emaus. Emaus also misplayed Jorge Vazquez' grounder before Chris Malec (3-for-4) singled to load the bases. Fisher Cats starter and losing pitcher Rey Gonzalez (2-2) then fielded a grounder by Edwar Gonzalez. He threw the ball into centerfield allowing two runs to score to give Trenton a
3-2 lead. A fourth error was charged on the return throw which allowed Gonzalez to move to second. Kyle Anson (1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) then hit a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.
Gonzalez allowed six hits and four runs (one earned) in suffering the loss. Davis Romero worked two scoreless innings in his first Fisher Cats appearance of the season. Sean Stidfole allowed an Anson ninth inning home run for Trenton's final run.
The Fisher Cats threatened in the bottom of the ninth inning. Al Quintana ripped a two-out single off reliever Kevin Whelan and scored on a Brian Dopirak double. Eric Wordekemper picked up the save by getting Todd Donovan to fly out to end the game.
