Tonight, the SeaWolves begin a hit the road for a brief, four-game series at Blair County Ballpark against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates). Yesterday, the SeaWolves bats were stymied in the series finale with Akron as the 'Wolves four-game win streak came to an end wit ha 4-1 loss. Despite the loss, the SeaWolves had their best homestand of the season going 5-2...Entering today, the SeaWolves are a game under .500 and are tied with the Curve for third place in the EL West. The Western Division remains a giant log jam as all six teams are separated by just two games...The SeaWolves send right hander L.J. Gagnier to the mound making his sixth start and third against the Curve. Gagnier is 1-0 with a no-decision in his two previous starts against Altoona. He earned his team-leading third win in his last start against Bowie. In the game, he allowed a run on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts in equaling a season-best with seven innings pitched...Lefty Aaron Thompson takes the mound for Altoona making his seventh start and third against the SeaWolves. Thompson, the former first rounder of the Florida Marlins, took a loss in his last start at Richmond going 4.2 innings, allowing four runs, one earned, on eight hits wit ha walk while striking out a season-high seven. Thompson is 1-0 with a no-decision in his two previous starts against the SeaWolves...The SeaWolves have not won a road series this season and are four-games under .500 away from Jerry Uht Park.
- Altoona leads the season series over Erie 4-3. The SeaWolves and Curve meet 18 times in 2011. The two clubs are in a stretch of 10 consecutive games of the season series being played in Altoona. The Curve makes one more trip to Erie in July.- Defensively, the SeaWolves have committed 34 errors which is second-most in the EL.
