Augusta Lynx News Release

Duluth, GA - Mike Erickson's goal provided the only offense for the Augusta Lynx in a 4-1 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators on Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

Jamie Milam opened the scoring just 1:26 into the first period, backhanding a shot past Dave McKee on Scott Mifsud's feed from behind the net to make it 1-0. Mifsud would then follow his own rebound for a power play goal eight minutes later for a 2-0 score after 20 minutes of play.

Mifsud's second power play goal of the night at 8:07 of the second period extended the lead to 3-0.

Erickson did give the Lynx some life at 5:47 when he wristed a shot over the shoulder of Dave Caruso to make it 3-1 early in the third period, but just over a minute later Blue Bennefield gave the Gladiators' its three-goal margin back and a 4-1 final.

Caruso stopped 19 shots for the win while McKee turned aside 33 in taking the loss.

The Lynx are back in action with a pair of games in Texas against the Wildcatters on Friday and Saturday night, with radio coverage beginning one half-hour before puck drop on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
