(Trenton, NJ) The Toledo Storm (30-26-1) defeated the Trenton Titans (29-25-5) 3-2 tonight in Trenton. You can view a complete box score at Toledo vs. Trenton. Ervins Mustukovs made a season high 52 saves for the win.
Toledo would jump in front of the Titans at 7:31 of the first period as Nick Parillo tapped home a rebound for his 11th goal of the season. Tim Songin and Jeremy Hall drew the assists. Toledo would extend the lead to 2 with just 6 seconds remaining in the first period as Jeremy Hall scored his first professional goal. Chris Blight took a pass from PJ. Martin and fed Hall between the circles; Jeremy blasted a one-timer past Gregg Naumenko (L, 22 saves). The goal was a power play goal.
The Storm would capitalize starting the second period as Jason Maleyko sent a blue line wrist shot past Naumenko for another power play goal at 1:09. Matt Zultek and Nick Parillo collected the assists. The Storm would ride the strong goaltending of Ervins Mustukovs (W, 52 saves) to a 3-0 lead through 2 periods. Toledo is 17-1-0 when leading through 2 periods of play.
Trenton would make it close getting goals Beniot Mondou (7:36) and Mike Manley (10:01), but Toledo was able to hold on for the thirtieth win of the year. Toledo finished the contest 2-6 on the power play and held Trenton to no power play goals in 5 chances.
