Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release
Revenge was on the minds of the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Saturday night at Germain Arena after a tough loss the night before. The Ice Pilots took matters into their own hands as they scored three first period goals in a span of 3:37 and went on to beat Florida Everblades 5-2.
It was the Ice Pilots eighth win on the road and 19th overall to give them 41 points. Michael Mole was outstanding in net stopping 39 of 41 shots and the Ice Pilots defensive zone coverage and penalty killing was fantastic as well.
It was a great start to the game for the Ice Pilots in the opening period. After surrendering the game's first goal, Pensacola would score three straight. First Rene Gauthier's fourth from Rich Meloche and Derrick Byfugelin. David Wrigley gave the Ice Pilots a 2-1 advantage when he scored shorthanded.
Pensacola made it 3-1 when Sergei Ogorodnikov scored a beautiful wraparound goal at 12:44 and it was awful quiet at Germain Arena.
The Everblades rounded out the scoring in the period with a power play goal to make it 3-2.
In the second period the Ice Pilots penalty killing kicked it up a notched with some great work and then the power play also went on the attack and Dan Riedel scored his first professional goal on a five on three to make it 4-2.
The Ice Pilots rounded out the scoring in the third period on Derrick Byfuglien marker and it was 5-2.
