
Ice Pilots forward Rob Rankin gets first AHL call-up

ESTERO, FL - It's been a great rookie season for Pensacola Ice Pilots forward Rob Rankin.
He is second among rookies in scoring with 45 points, and also represented the Ice Pilots at the RBK Hockey ECHL All-Star Game. Now, Rankin has received another feather in his cap when he was called up by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Ice Pilots AHL affiliate, on Friday night.
It's the first American Hockey League call up for Rankin who is expected to be in uniform tonight (Saturday) for the Sound Tigers when they host the Philadelphia Phantoms at 7 pm eastern, 6 pm central. The Sound Tigers are in a battle for their playoff lives in the conference.
The Eagan Minnesota native has 15 goals and 30 assists for 45 points and a rating of minus one. He has connected on four power play goals and added a shorthanded marker. Rankin had an outstanding game last Sunday when he scored his first professional hat trick and added two assists in a 7-2 romp over the South Carolina Stingrays at The Hangar.
The Pensacola Ice Pilots return to action tonight (Saturday) when they play their second game of the set against the Florida Everblades at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida. The Everblades defeated the Ice Pilots 7-2 on Friday night. Dan Sullivan and Nikita Korovkin tallied for the Ice Pilots in the loss.
Fans can tune into tonight's Ice Pilots game live on Classic Country AM1620 beginning with the pre-game show at 6:15 pm central. Denis J.
