The Jackals are facing the IceMen tonight for the second of four meetings this season and first of two at First Arena. The Jackals are 1-0-0 against the IceMen thanks to a 6-3 win in the first ever meeting between the teams on December 28. The Jackals came back from down 2-0 to win that game which was one of their three comeback wins from that score this season. The Jackals' offense has been clicking along at an average of 4.4 goals per game over their last seven (5-2-0). They will try to keep it rolling against an Evansville squad that has surrendered the most goals in the Eastern Conference (second most in the league) at 135.
Tonight's game begins the second half of Elmira's 2012-13 home schedule and, so far, First Arena has been very kind to the Jackals. They are 11-6-1 at home and are on pace to win at least 20 home games for the fifth time in the last six years. The Jackals' 11 home wins are tied for third most in the Eastern Conference and sixth most in the league. Their biggest weapon at home has been a team defense that has allowed just 43 goals in 18 games (2.4/game) which ranks fourth. Evansville is 0-5-2 in its last seven road games.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals are back on First Arena ice on Saturday, January 12, 2013 to take on the Evansville IceMen at 7:05 p.m. Join the Jackals a rally towel giveaway!
