ECHL All-Stars Showcase Talents at TECO Arena

Estero, FL - TECO Arena is set to host the 2003 Compuware ECHL Skills Competition and All-Star Game this Monday, January 20th and Tuesday, January 21st. Both events will begin at 7:30 PM. The Skills Competition consists of six events including the hardest shot, puck control relay, rapid fire, shooting accuracy, breakaway relay and the fastest skater competition. Each event is explained in more detail below. Both All-Star Events feature at least one player from each team. The Northern Conference will face off at TECO Arena against the Southern Conference in the 2003 Compuware All-Star Game on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM. For tickets to either of these events please call (239) 334-3309 or log on to www.ticketmaster.com. There are currently still several hundred tickets available to this once in a lifetime event in Southwest Florida. The All-Star game will also be broadcast live locally on Comcast Sports South (Comcast Cable Channel 70). The satellite coordinates for the game are as follows: SBS 6, Transponder 6, 11.847 megahertz vertical. The Everblades will be represented in the game by starting goaltender Rob Zepp and rookie forward Marty Johnston.

Florida hosts the South Carolina Stingrays in a pair of weekend games at TECO Arena this Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 PM. 2003 COMPUWARE SKILLS COMPETITION EVENTS:

Hardest Shot: 4 participants from each team. Each Player shoots two pucks. One point is awarded to the individual's team with the hardest single shot and one point to the team with the highest overall average.

Rapid Fire: 3 pairs from each team. Each pair alternates shooting on the opposing conference's goaltender from 21 feet away. One point is awarded to the goaltender's team which stops the most shots.

Puck Control Relay: 4 participants from each team. Players will weave through a set of cones while controlling the puck. The first heat will have three players from each team. The second will have one player. One point will be awarded to the winner of each heat.

Fastest Skater: 3 participants from each team. There will be three heats with one player from each team participating in each heat. Each team will be awarded a point for winning the heat and for the quickest average time.

Shooting Accuracy: 3 participants from each team. Each player shoots at four targets, two in the upper corner of the net and two in the lower corner. There will be eight shots per player. One point will be awarded to the team with the most targets hit and one to the team with the most hits.

Breakaway Relay: All Members will participate. One point will be given for each goal scored.
