Generals roll over Express 3-1

GREENSBORO, NC - In their first trip to the Greensboro Coliseum all season, the Greensboro Generals defeated the Roanoke Express 3-1.

The Generals (25-11-1) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Chris Allen at the 1:37 mark of the first period. Roanoke (23-16-2) matched the Generals score with a power-play conversion by Duncan Dalmao with just 1:13 remaining in the first period.

After a scoreless second period, the Generals Sam Ftorek scored a his career-high and team leading 23rd goal in the third. Ftorek took advantage of the Express penalty to give the Generals a 2-1 lead that they would not relinquish. The Generals added an empty net goal with just 14 seconds remaining for the final tally of 3-1.

Greensboro now goes on the road on Friday to face Trenton, followed by a Saturday night game at Reading. Following the two-game set, the Generals play at the Columbia Inferno, and return home on Wednesday, January 29th to play the South Carolina Stingrays at the Greensboro Coliseum with a 7:00 start time.
