Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Anchorage Aces have announced that winger Wes Dorey will be suspended from the team so that he may pursue an opportunity in the British SuperLeague.

Dorey joined Anchorage December 13 after scoring five goals and four assists to begin the season in Boise, where he was waived by the Steelheads in a salary cap move. Prior to reporting in Alaska, he had considered opportunities in Europe, but elected to join the Aces for the short term. In 13 games with the club, Dorey managed just two goals along with seven assists and a –17 rating as the club went 3-9-1 during his tenure. A member of the 2000 NCAA national champions at North Dakota, he reportedly has agreed to terms with the Sheffield Steelers, a title contender in the British SuperLeague.

"We wish Wes the best of luck in his pro career," said head coach Rod Davidson. "We still own his WCHL rights, so you never know, but Wes has to do what's best for himself in the long run."

The Aces return home for a three-game series at Sullivan Arena against the Fresno Falcons beginning Wednesday, January 22, and continuing with Friday and Saturday night contests on the 24th and 25th. All three games are slated for a 7:00 p.m. start. For more information regarding tickets, appearances, or upcoming games, please call (907) 258-ACES.
