Augusta Lynx News Release

AUGUSTA, GA— The Augusta Lynx and the Shoe Carnival will be teaming up with Sam's Club of Augusta this Friday night to present two separate matching contribution checks of one thousand dollars ($1,000) each to the Augusta Youth Ice Hockey Association. Sam's Club is making a matching donation to the Augusta Lynx Foundation, which contributes funding to AYIHA from its Shoe Carnival Chuck-a-puck promotion. The money donated will go directly to AYIHA to be used for hockey equipment, ice time, travel expenses, and organizational operation expenses.

Dan Book, General Manager of Sam's Club of Augusta is thrilled to be helping Augusta's Youth Ice Hockey, "It's an honor to be involved with the Augusta Lynx in helping them get more youth involved in the sport of hockey. Ice hockey helps develop a youngsters confidence, teamwork, and overall work ethic, and is a great sport for the mind.

Assistant General Manager of the Lynx, Kyle Schultz agrees with Book, "We'd like to thank the Shoe Carnival for sponsoring the Chuck-a-puck because that is where this important donation comes from. We use the money generated at the games from this outstanding promotion and put a good portion of it right back into the local youth hockey program. Anyone that has had the opportunity to grow up playing hockey realizes the valuable lessons the sport can teach.

The checks will be presented at center ice immediately following a mite youth hockey exhibition during the first intermission of this Friday night's game versus the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Game time is scheduled for 7:35 PM at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center. For more information or to obtain tickets to the game, please contact the Lynx office at 706-724-4423.
