Alaska Aces News Release

FRESNO, California – Colin Embley scored twice, including the eventual game-winner, as Fresno outshot Anchorage 42-18 in a 4-2 victory before 3,425 Tuesday at Selland Arena.

As they did Sunday in an 8-6 loss, the Aces scored first, as Kimbi Daniels connected on a power play at 5:26 of the opening period. The Falcons, who won their sixth straight game to up their record to 18-12-4, tied the contest with 1:25 remaining in the frame as Embley tipped in a Kirk DeWaele blast from the point. Fresno grabbed its first lead when Jason Weaver scored his 11th goal of the year (six of which have come against Anchorage) on the power play two minutes into the second period, but Daniels tied the score 2-2 on another Aces' power play five minutes later.

Embley's second of the game would be all the Falcons would need at 16:32 of the second period, but Kris Porter gave his goaltender, Mark Gowan, some insurance at the 5:24 mark of the third, courtesy of an assist by Weaver. Gowan need to make only 16 saves, the most crucial being a denial of Yvan Corbin on a breakaway with 90 seconds to go that could have trimmed the lead back to a single goal. A gallant Christian Soucy turned in 38 saves in absorbing the defeat in net for the Aces.

Anchorage slips to 10-26-2 overall on the year and has slumped to a 1-9-1 mark in its last 11 games. The Aces trek to San Diego for Friday and Saturday night games against the second-place Gulls at 6:00 p.m. AST. All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.anchorageaces.com or www.kfqd.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
