GREENSBORO GENERALS
The Generals fell to the Peoria Rivermen 5-2 last Saturday at home. With Peoria on the board 1-0, Pete Gardiner re-directed a Rod Aldoff slap shot to even the score midway through the first period. The Rivermen would again take a one-goal lead at 2-1, only to have the Generals' Sam Ftorek knot the score at 2-2 in the final minute of the first period. However, Peoria took the lead for good midway through the second period, and added a pair of third period insurance goals to seal the victory.
ROANOKE EXPRESS
The Express defeated the Charlotte Checkers 5-3 last Saturday on the road. Cole Fischer put Roanoke on top 1-0 just five minutes into the game, and a Dan Carlson score upped the advantage to 2-0 five minutes later. Following a first period goal from Charlotte, Cam Bristow restored the two-goal lead at 3-1 midway through the second period. The Checkers crept back within a goal on two more occasions, but the Express held them at bay with goals from Joe Dusbabek and Rick Kowalsky to ensure the victory.
