Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Erasmo RamÃrez hurled 7 innings of 2-run ball as the Pawtucket Red Sox (22-31) took game two of this three-game set with the Syracuse Mets (28-26) by a 4-2 final on Saturday night.
Pawtucket struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning. After the first two hitters were retired and Bryce Brentz and Gorkys Hernandez drew back-to-back walks, Juan Centeno ripped an RBI single that brought home the game's first run. One pitch later, Cole Sturgeon pulled an RBI single into right to make it 2-0.
The PawSox added a pair in the third inning as well.
Syracuse got on the board in the fourth thanks to an RBI single from Danny Espinosa, who has now collected 4 RBI's through the first two games of this series.
The Mets scored again in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Rubén Tejada to make it a 4-2 game.
Travis Lakins worked the eighth inning in his first appearance since returning from his second stint in Boston. Lakins struck out the side, including a punchout on a 15-pitch at bat to Matt Kemp.
In his third start of the year against the Mets, Erasmo RamÃrez was superb. He fired 7 innings allowing only 1 earned one. RamÃrez didn't walk anybody, and he struck out 5. It was the right-hander's longest start of the season.
