ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign doubled up the Colorado Eagles, 4-2, as the latter began a seven-game road trip. After going 4-for-9 on the power play against the Reign in a win here less than two weeks ago, the Eagles' top-ranked power play went 0-for-5 and failed to convert on a pair of two-man advantages.

Ontario opened the scoring at 3:35 when former NHLer D.J. King converted a pass into the crease into a goal past Adam Brown. But the Eagles countered five minutes later -- just as a power play was expiring -- when Michael Forney beat Chris Carrozzi from the left circle to tie the game at 1.

The Reign re-took the lead with a power-play marker eight minutes after that on a goal from Mario Lamoureux, who has been a thorn in the Eagles' side all season long. Colorado countered once more, however, when Trent Daavettila and Kyle Ostrow converted a turnover in the offensive zone into a tying goal at 18:18 of the first frame, sending the game into the intermission knotted up at 2.

Ontario scored just 23 seconds into the second stanza when Kyle Kraemer sped down the right wing and angled toward the crease where he beat Brown to make it 3-2. The Eagles' had a golden opportunity to knot the game up again when they were awarded a full 5-on-3 power play minutes later, but they couldn't capitalize. Then at 11:10, King set up Brady Calla on the doorstep with a pass from behind Colorado's cage to make it 4-2 for the home team.

Colorado out-shot Ontario, 17-6, in the final frame, but they couldn't get another puck past Carrozzi. The Eagles even had a power play and an extra attacker after pulling Brown for the final minute and a half, but they couldn't find a way to trim Ontario's lead in dropping the first of seven games in a 10 day span.
