Following Thursday night's dominating first period from Alaska, Friday's opening frame proved to be much more level. The clubs played a scoreless first period with Alaska outshooting Bakersfield 11-7.

Alaska broke the 0-0 tie when Nick Mazzolini scored his team-leading 32nd goal of the year on a breakaway at 6:05. The goal came one second after an Aces penalty expired and stood as the only goal through two periods. Alaska controlled the middle frame, outshooting Bakersfield 18-7.

The Condors got back into the game in the third period. After hitting both a crossbar and post, Bakersfield finally broke through at 6:41 to tie the game. Alaska turned the puck over at the right side of the net, and Bakersfield's Tyler Maxwell was able to stuff the puck past the left leg of Guggenberger on his second whack. The game was on the table for the taking until the Aces reclaimed the lead at 13:11. Mazzolini cut behind the net and made a through the legs, no-look, backhand pass to Garry Nunn who snapped home his career-high, 16th goal of the season past Brian Stewart who had moved off of the left post. Nunn's goal tied his career high in points with 44. Down the stretch Guggenberger and company held on for the 2-1 win to deliver another blow to Bakersfield's playoff hopes.

Mark Guggenberger (22-7-5) made 22 saves on 23 shots earning the win. Brian Stewart (8-21-3) made 43 saves on 45 shots, while taking the loss. The Aces went 0-3 on the power play and the Condors were 0-1. Alaska outshot Bakersfield 45-23 in the game.
