Bakersfield Condors News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Bakersfield Condors (18-38-2-3, 41pts) found a third-period equalizing goal, but it was not enough as the Alaska Aces (42-12-2-4, 88pts) won their third straight, 2-1, on Friday night at Sullivan Arena.

Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the first period with the Condors best chance coming shorthanded off the stick of RW Scott Freeman late in the period. Condors G Brian Stewart was big in between the pipes, making 11 saves in the frame.

The ECHL's active leading goal scorer, Aces F Nick Mazzolini, scored his 32nd of the season at 6:05 of the second period off a turnover to give Alaska a 1-0 advantage. It held up as the period's lone goal with the Aces outshooting the Condors 18-7.

Bakersfield hit three posts on consecutive shifts early in the third period in their effort to tie the game. They would break through when C Tyler Maxwell stuffed home his own rebound at 6:41 knot the score at 1-1. However, the Aces found the eventual game-winner at 13:11 when F Garry Nunn rifled home a shot from the bottom of the left-wing circle after a great behind-the-back pass from Mazzolini. The Condors pressured late, but could not find the equalizer and fell 2-1.
