Trenton Titans News Release

Wheeling, WV - The Trenton Titans, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, finished a weekend set in a split with the Wheeling Nailers, after falling by a 3-0 score before 3,092 fans at WesBanco Arena.

The loss keeps the Titans at 54 points (23-28-4-4) and with 13 games remaining, makes tomorrow's contest at Toledo a must win for the playoff hopes of the Titans.

Scott Wedgewood (L, 37 saves, 17-21-3-2) was under constant fire all night, keeping the Titans in the contest, down just 1-0 after a 20-7 shot advantage led to a Paul Crowder goal at 16:07 of the first.

The game turned into a defensive struggle in the second. This became important for Wheeling (24-23-3-758), as they killed off a 5-on-3 Titans power play early in the period, then turned the tables on Trenton late in the frame. Blocking a shot on a late period Titans man advantage, Crowder caught Cam Fergus on a breakaway, which he finished with his seventh goal of the season and a 2-0 Wheeling lead after two.

The physical and feisty play escalated even further in the third, as the need for a win became desparate. Wheeling was able to all but put the game away on its own power play after Chris Barton found the back of the net six minutes in for a 3-0 lead. Goalie Peter Delmas (W, 20 saves, 12-8-0-3) made it stand with his first shutout of the season. The win also ran his career record against the Titans to 12-2.

Trenton now takes its Travelling Stick Show to Toledo for the final game of a 5-game, 9-day road trip. It is the lone trip to Toledo for the Titans and the final meeting this season with the Walleye. Faceoff is set for 5:05 pm, with the Titans Pregame onair at 4:45 pm. As always the game can be heard on AmericaOne.com, 1077theBronc.com and 107.7 "The Bronc" FM (Trenton area), with the Voice of the Titans, "The Bronc" Daryle Dobos, calling all the action.
