TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (39-14-3-2=83 points) host the Stockton Thunder (29-22-5-4=67 points) for the eighth of eleven meetings this season. The Reign/Thunder series is Ontario's longest in 2012-13.
The Reign have the league's second best at-home record of 22-7-2-0 (46 points), Stockton's road record is 11-15-3-3. The Reign are also dominating the Pacific Division with a 25-5-2 record against same-division opponents.
HOW THEY RANK:
The Reign are first in the Pacific Division, second in the Western Conference, and second in the league with 83 points. The Reign only trail the Alaska Aces who have 90 points Stockton Thunder comes in at second in the Pacific Division, fourth in the Western Conference, and 11th in the league.
HOMETOWN HERO:
Branden Parkhouse, a local of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., made his professional debut in last night's game against the Colorado Eagles. The forward recorded his first professional point with an assist on the final goal of the game and earned his first professional win with a +1. A graduate of Becker College, Parkhouse led his team in points in three of four years and became Becker's all-time leader in goals, assists, and points during his career.
OVER-POWERING THE THUNDER:
The Reign have struggled with their power play as of late and with an at-home rating of 20.4% are evenly matched the Thunder who on the road have a 20% conversion rate. Ontario has held the Thunder to eight power-play goals in 39 attempts so far this year.
FIRST GOAL IS THE DEEPEST:
With a 32-2-3-2 record when scoring first, the Reign rank third in the league. When leading after the first period, Ontario has never lost in regulation and has only dropped two games when heading into the second period ahead. Colton Yellow Horn (8 first goals) and C.J. Stretch (6 first goals) were first and second in the league with first goals before their AHL call-ups. Brodie Sheahan currently ranks third with five.
