Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Moosic, Pennsylvania - For the second time this week the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (65-56, 29-19) were walked-off on by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (60-61, 26-21) by a final of 6-5 on Friday night at PNC Field.
The IronPigs came out of the gates hot as Dustin Peterson clubbed a two-run homer in the first inning to start the scoring.
The RailRiders capitalized on three IronPigs errors to plate five runs in the second. Carlos Narvaez legged out an infield single with two on, with a subsequent throwing error allowing a run to score. Jake Lamb followed with an RBI single to tie the game before a Wilmer Difo RBI groundout put the RailRiders ahead. After an error extended the inning, Jasson Dominguez plated another with a base hit before a throwing error on a stolen base at second allowed Estevan Florial to score from third.
The longball brought the IronPigs back to life in the fifth. Peterson whacked his second two-run homer of the game in the fifth to left, his 17th of the season. Darick Hall then went back-to-back with him, blistering a solo shot to right, tying the game at 5-5.
The game stayed knotted at 5-5 until the ninth. The RailRiders loaded the bases thanks to two walks and a hit batter before Franchy Cordero singled to right with two outs to plate Florial and give the RailRiders a 6-5 win.
Greg Weissert (5-3) earned the win with a scoreless ninth for the RailRiders, striking out one.
Tyler McKay (2-3) suffered the loss for the IronPigs, allowing one run on a hit and two walks.
The IronPigs continue their series against the RailRiders on Saturday, August 26 with a doubleheader slated to begin at 3:35 p.m.
