Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Cedar Rapids Kernels (affiliate of the Minnesota Twins) in the second game of a three-game series.

Streaks: The Dragons have won seven of their last eight games after an eight-game losing streak that came on the heels of a nine-game winning streak.

Standings: The Dragons are in third place, two games behind first place Bowling Green, and one-half game behind second place Lansing.

Last Game: Monday: Dayton 3, Cedar Rapids 2. Starting pitcher Wendolyn Bautista and three relievers combined to scatter 10 hits. The Dragons went to their bullpen with a 3-2 lead with two outs in the top of the sixth and the trio of Ryan Nutof, Dauri Moreta, and John Ghyzel shutout the Kernels the rest of the night. Offensively, Jose Garcia had two hits and two RBI. Mark Kolozsvary also had two hits, two walks, and a run scored. Morgan Lofstrom had two doubles.

2018 Team Notes

At the one-fifth mark of the Midwest League season, the Dragons 16-12 record ranks tied for second best of the last 10 seasons, trailing only the 2017 Dragons, who stood at 18-10 after 28 games. The all-time best record for the Dragons at the 20 percent mark came in 2007 (23-5).

The Dragons have been the streakiest team in professional baseball in 2018. They started the year with a three-game losing streak, won the next nine games, lost the next eight, and won the next six.

The Dragons team ERA in their 16 wins is 3.60 (145 IP, 58 ER). The ERA in the 12 losses is 7.65 (100 IP, 85 ER).

2018 Individual Notes

Michael Beltré is fifth in the MWL in batting average (.353) and first in on-base percentage (.476). Beltré had an 11-game hitting streak snapped last night. He is batting .383 over his last 12 games. He also has an on-base streak of 23 straight games dating back to 2017.

Hendrik Clementina on the Burlington-Clinton road trip: 5 G, 8 for 15, 4 home runs, one triple, 11 RBI, and seven walks (.533 batting average; 1.467 slugging percentage; .682 on-base percentage, and an OPS of 2.148). Clementina is hitting .390 on the year with an .814 slugging percentage. He is tied for second in the MWL in home runs with six and tied for fourth in RBI with 23 despite being five plate appearances short of qualifying for the batting lead. He would rank third in the league in batting average and first in slugging percentage (by 190 points).

John Ghyzel is tied for the MWL lead in saves with six. He has allowed runs in just one of his 11 appearances.
