Dragons Nominees Announced for May Players of the Month

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons have announced their nominees for the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards for May. Fans can go to www.daytondragons.com to vote for the players whom they who they feel are most deserving of the award based on the month.

Each month, three hitters and three pitchers will be selected as nominees based on their performances on the field. The winning players will be honored on Thursday, June 7th during an inning break of the Dragons game. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon on Friday, June 8th at Texas Roadhouse, 2600 Colonel Glenn Highway across from the Nutter Center. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs. The players will be available to the media for interviews.

Below are the nominees for May (Statistics for the month of May only):

Hitter of the Month Nominees:

- Steve Selsky (outfielder): Batted .284 with one home run and 10 runs batted in. He played in 26 of the Dragons 29 games.

- Kyle Waldrop (right fielder): Batted .253 with two home runs and 10 runs batted in. He played in 26 of the Dragons 29 games.

- Ryan Wright (second baseman): Batted .349 with one home run and a team-leading 18 runs batted in. Also led the team in runs scored (13), doubles (10), base hits (37), and stolen bases (6). He played in 27 of the Dragons 29 games.

Pitcher of the Month Nominees:

- Carlos Contreras: Has posted two saves and a 3.86 earned run average in 11 games out of the bullpen. Record of 0-1. Opposing batters hitting only .140 against him. Has struck out 16 batters in 14 innings.

- Stalin Gerson: Leads team with two victories for the month. In five starts, has record of 2-1 with a 4.18 ERA. Leads team in innings (28) and strikeouts (22).

- Ryan Kemp: Record of 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA and one save. Has appeared in nine games out of the bullpen.
