Today's Game: The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the TinCaps (affiliate of the San Diego Padres) in the second game of a three-game set.
Season Series: Dayton 5, Fort Wayne 2 (at FW: FW 2, Dayton 2). Streaks: Dayton: Won 4 (7-3 over last 10). Fort Wayne: Lost 1 (7-11 over last 18).
Last Night: Dayton held off a frantic comeback attempt by Fort Wayne to defeat the TinCaps 9-8 in the first game of the series. Frank Pfister went 4 for 4 with three RBI to lead an 11-hit Dayton attack. Cameron Satterwhite and Shane Carlson each had two hits for Dayton. Chase Ware allowed a three-run double in the eighth but pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the ninth for his sixth save. Ricky Bowen earned his first professional victory, working the first five innings for Dayton, allowing five hits and two runs with four walks and three strikeouts. Mark Fleury had a two-run double for Dayton. It was the Dragons fourth straight win (all on the road).
Today's Starting Pitcher: J.C. Sulbaran will make his 11th start of the season tonight. He did not get a decision in his last start last Wednesday at Beloit (4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 2 SO, 2 HB). Sulbaran is a 20-year-old native of Willemstad, Curacao. He spent the entire 2009 season with the Dragons, going 5-5 with a 5.24 ERA. Sulbaran is rated as 25th best prospect in Reds organization by Baseball America. He pitched for Team Netherlands in 2009 World Baseball Classic, striking out former all-star catcher Ivan Rodriguez on three pitches. He also pitched for the Netherlands in the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. He is one of three players from his high school team to be drafted in 2008. Sulbaran moved with family to Plantation, Florida during his high school career and was the Miami-area pitcher of the year in 2008 as he helped American Heritage High School to state championship, going 11-0 with a 1.40 earned run average. Sulbaran had signed a National Letter of Intent to play at the University of Florida before signing with Reds.

* Cameron Satterwhite has hit in six straight games, going 15 for 27, .556. He is batting .433 over his last 15 games and is now batting .376 since joining the Dragons. Since May 21 when Satterwhite joined the Dragons, he ranks second in the league in batting, tied for first in extra base hits, tied for first in doubles, and tied for sixth in slugging percentage. He is hitting .426 for the month of June, which is second in the league.
* Frank Pfister is batting .560 on the road trip, going 14 for 25.
