
Bandits Fall 8-2 in Loss to Kane County

Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits fell behind 3-0 in the first inning and were unable to comeback as they fell 8-2 to the Kane County Cougars on Wednesday night. The Bandits scored just two runs on seven hits while the Cougars plated eight on 14 base knocks in the contest.
Scott Schneider (5-2) was saddled with his second loss of the season after surrendering four runs on eight hits through five innings of work. He fanned five. Chris Notti threw three innings of relief and was charged with four runs, three earned, on five hits. Jason Novak finished out the ninth for the Bandits without allowing a run.
Matt Adams led the way offensively for Quad Cities going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Ryan Jackson added a triple and came around to score on a throwing error by the Cougars right-fielder Kent Walton in the eighth. Edgar Lara added an RBI when he hit a double in the second to plate Adams.
Ian Krol (5-2) picked up his fifth win of the season going five strong for Kane County. Krol allowed just one run on three hits while punching out three in the win. Connor Hoehn and Bo Schultz combined for the final four innings. They surrendered just one run and combined for six strikeouts.
The River Bandits can clinch a playoff spot on Thursday with a win or a Peoria Chiefs loss. Quad Cities will send the St. Louis Cardinals number one overall prospect Shelby Miller (1-3) to square off with fellow right-hander Rob Gilliam (3-5). Fans can meet Dennis Haskins, more commonly known as Mr. Belding from the hit television series 'Saved by the Bell.' It is also Thirst-day Thursday at Modern Woodmen Park with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. first pitch.
