FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The TinCaps' bullpen fired four scoreless innings as Fort Wayne defeated the Dayton Dragons, 5-4, Wednesday at Parkview Field. Everett Williams singled home the go-ahead run in the 8th inning.

It was a nip-and-tuck game throughout, with neither team leading by more than a single run at any point. The TinCaps had several chances, stranding 14 men on base thanks to 10 walks and a hit batsman by Dayton pitchers.

RHP Robert Poutier worked three shutout frames, his longest outing of the year, to collect the win. RHP Nick Schumacher nailed it down with a scoreless 9th.

An RBI single by Danny Payne in the bottom of the 2nd opened the scoring, but the Dragons quickly erased the deficit in the top of the 3rd with a pair of runs to take the lead.

In the 3rd, Edinson Rincon launched the first pitch from Dayton RHP J.C. Sulbaran over the leftfield wall for a solo homer, tying the game at 2-2. James Darnell's RBI groundout in the 4th put Fort Wayne ahead again, 3-2.

Dayton tied the game in the top of the 5th on a double by Henry Rodriguez, then took a 4-3 lead on Shane Carlson's sacrifice fly.

Payne slugged a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th to deadlock the game at 4-4.

In the 8th, Darnell led off with a double and later scored on Williams' single, putthing the TinCaps back in front, 5-4.

Poutier (3-0) picked up the victory. Dayton RHP Blair Carson (1-3) surrendered the go-ahead run in his only inning. The save was Schumacher's 13th of the season.

The TinCaps jumped back to .500 at 33-33. Dayton dipped to 28-37.

The TinCaps finish the three-game series against the Dragons (Class-A Cincinnati Reds) Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Parkview Field. Fort Wayne RHP John Hussey (4-3) takes the ball against Dayton LHP Justin Walker (1-8).
