
Dorow, Hernandez Promoted to Double-A Frisco

Kinston, N.C. - Wood Ducks infielders Ryan Dorow and Yonny Hernandez have been promoted to Double-A Frisco, the Rangers announced Wednesday.
The duo both started for the Southern Division in the Carolina League All-Star game, and were cogs in the Wood Ducks lineup throughout the first half of play. They become the eighth and ninth Down East players to receive promotions this year.
At the time of his promotion Dorow was slashing .265/.378/.398 with eight home runs and 43 RBI. Dorow also came up clutch for the Wood Ducks numerous times this year. He hit a go-ahead home run in 9th inning to break scoreless tie against Salem, April 16, and then less than two weeks later lifted a walk-off home run to beat the Fayetteville Woodpeckers on April 27. He also hit a walk-off double against the Keys, June 7. Dorow garnered Carolina League Player of the Week honors May 20-26 after hitting four home runs in a three day span against Potomac, driving in ten runs over seven days.
Originally a 30th round selection out of Adrian College (MI) Dorow is the reigning Defender of the Year in the Rangers organization. He also made countless web gems at third base in the first half of play. He also finished his time in Down East ranked among league leaders in runs scored (4th, 45), walks (6th, 42), RBI (6th, 43), home runs (T-7th, 8), and OBP (9th, .378). Dorow posted a 19-game on-base streak from April 25-May 17, and concluded his time in the Carolina League riding an 18-game on-base streak.
Hernandez was outstanding in the leadoff spot in the order for the Wood Ducks. He collected Carolina League Player of the Week honors for April 22-28, reaching base 16 times over six games. Hernandez also had a 25-game on base streak from April 20-May 15 over which he hit .377 and posted an on-base percentage of .477. Hernandez concluded his time in the Carolina League ranked among league leaders in OBP (2nd, .426), walks (3rd, 48), AVG (6th, .298), stolen bases (T-6th, 17), hits (9th, 73), and runs scored (10th, 42).
A native of Maturin, Ven. Hernandez was named a Rangers organizational All-Star last year with Single-A Hickory, by MLB.com, stealing 46 bases on the year to lead the Rangers organization. He capped off the first half by lining a game-winning single in the 11th inning against Myrtle Beach to lift the Woodies to their 50th win of the season. Hernandez was signed by the Rangers as an international free agent in 2014.
