Donovan Returns from Nashville

Milwaukee, WI - Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the team has reassigned defenseman Matt Donovan to Milwaukee.

Donovan played in two games with the Predators in his first recall of the season, dishing out an assist in the Preds 5-4 shoot-out win over Minnesota on March 5. The Edmond, OK native is still third on the Admirals and first among team defensemen in points with 29 (11g-18a) in 55 games. He represented the Admirals at the 2019 AHL All-Star Classic and has recorded five multi-point performances this season.

Originally drafted in the fourth round (96th overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders, Donovan spent the past two seasons with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League, where he tallied 42 points (8g-34a) in 102 games. Donovan previously had 67 games of NHL experience with the Islanders from 2011-15, registering 19 points (2g-17a), and has 179 points (51g-128a) in 308 career AHL contests. He played two seasons with the University of Denver from 2009-11 and won a Gold Medal with the United States at the 2010 World Junior Championship.

The Admirals continue their playoff push when they visit the Rockford IceHogs on Wednesday night at 7 pm. The Ads next home game will be on Wednesday, April 3 at 7 pm against the San Antonio Rampage at Panther Arena.
