ROSEMONT, Ill. - Jordan Dean batted 3-for-4 with a homer, but the Chicago Dogs couldn't muster enough offense as they fell to the Milwaukee Milkmen, 7-2 on Wednesday night at Impact Field.
Chicago left nine men on base as they could not solve Milkmen starter Joey Wagman (W,1-1) for enough offense.
Milwaukee got on the board first in a big way as Manuel Boscan hit a three-run homer in the top of the third. Riley Pittman came around to score on a wild pitch three batters later, giving the Milkmen a 4-0 lead off of Dogs starter Wes Torrez (L, 1-4).
The newly-acquired Jalen Miller made his Dogs debut when he took over with two on and one out in the fourth. With Milwaukee attempting a double steal Rey Gonzalez's throw sailed into the outfield, allowing Derek Reddy to score and put the Milkmen up 5-0. Miller responded with back-to-back powerful strikeouts to end the frame.
The Dogs got on the board with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, when Keon Barnum ripped an RBI single off the right field wall to score Edwin Arroyo and bring Chicago within 5-1.
The Milkmen responded with two more runs in the top of the sixth when a fly ball hit off of Tony Rosselli's glove, pushing their lead to 7-1.
Dean blasted a solo shot in the bottom half of the frame, his eleventh of the season, to bring Chicago within five.
Harrison Smith and Rich Mascheri each hurled a scoreless frame, but the Dogs could not gather any more run-scoring hits.
LHP Austin Wright will start the series finale tomorrow evening. First pitch is slated for 6:05 PM.
