August 7, 2019 - American Association (AA)
Texas AirHogs News Release

The AirHogs held a two run lead at two different points in the game tonight, before allowing the Sioux Falls Canaries to tie the game at 4 in the top of the 7th inning. Luckily for the AirHogs fans Stephen Haviar refused to send the fans home anything but happy, driving in the winning run in the bottom of the 8th, securing a 5-4 win.

Gan Quan continued his great effort tonight from his previous outing against Cleburne on the 31st, giving the team 6 innings of 3 run baseball. He allowed just 7 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. Of his 3 runs only 2 were earned. Gan seemed to have much better fastball control tonight, allowing him to work from ahead in the count most of the evening.

Chen Junpeng was huge tonight for the AirHogs offense recording 3 hits in his 4 at bats. Junpeng drove in 2 runs as well as scored the winning run tonight. Junpeng's leadoff single off Sam Bragg in the 9th inning seemed to set a tone for the rest of the team to follow.

The AirHogs bullpen continued to work well., allowing just one run across 3 innings of work. Brett Eibner and Tyler Matzek pitched the 8th and 9th.. Eibner was perfect in the 8th inning, earning the win tonight. Matzek was once again dominant in the 9th, earning the save while allowing no runners to reach base.

The AirHogs look to continue their winning ways as they prepare for game 3 of the series with the Sioux Falls Canaries, first pitch scheduled for 7:05 P.M. The AirHogs starter is Travis Ballew. The Canaries starter is Keaton Steele.

Individual tickets for the 2019 season are on sale now. Visit AirHogsBaseball.com for more information.
