Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Tex. - Daniel Robertson and Ryan Brett combined for five hits and five RBI as the Cleburne Railroaders rallied for a 9-6 win over the Kansas City T-Bones on Tuesday night at The Depot at Cleburne Station.
Cleburne (45-29) found themselves facing an early deficit as the T-Bones (35-37) jumped out to a 4-0 lead through three innings. Chris Colabello capped the scoring with a long solo home run off Cleburne starter Jesus Sanchez (8-2), one of eight hits in the first three frames for Kansas City.
The 'Roaders got on the board in the third via a two-out Angel Reyes single that scored Robertson from second, where he stood after a double. Kansas City answered quickly in the top of the fourth, however, as Dylan Tice singled home Danny Mars to restore the four-run cushion.
The comeback began in earnest in the bottom of the fourth. After an error and a single put two on with nobody out, Brett slammed a two-run double into left that trimmed the T-Bones lead to 5-3. Hunter Clanin skied a sacrifice fly, pulling Cleburne within a run, then K.C. Huth crushed a solo home run to tie the game. Robertson smacked another two-out double, and raced home on a wild pitch to give the Railroaders a 6-5 lead.
Robertson provided the knock-out punch in the sixth, blistering a three-run homer to left to become the first Cleburne hitter to record three extra-base hits in a game this season.
Sanchez recovered from his rough start to retire ten T-Bones in a row over the middle innings. He exited with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh, but Braden Pearson came out of the Cleburne bullpen to strike out Shawn O'Malley and end the threat.
Tyler Marincov hit a solo homer for the T-Bones in the top of the eight to pull within 9-6, but D.J. Sharabi slammed the door over the final two innings to record his first save of the season.
Tommy Collier (6-5) took the loss for Kansas City, allowing 11 hits and nine runs in 5.1 innings. The hit and run totals are the most that Collier had ever allowed in an American Association start over the past two seasons, with the 11 hits matching Chicago's total from a start on June 9, 2019.
The Railroaders and T-Bones continue their series on Wednesday night at 7:06 PM. Right-hander Charlie Gillies (4-5, 3.79) is expected to start for Cleburne, to be opposed by fellow righty Jon Perrin (3-1, 4.32) for Kansas City.
