Dodgers Take Omaha Series with 5-4 Win

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Dodgers held on for a 5-4 win Thursday night against the Omaha Storm Chasers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark to win the four-game series between the teams.

The Dodgers built leads of, 3-1, and, 5-2, before Omaha scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to cut Oklahoma City's lead to one run.

Oklahoma City pitcher Matt West then threw a scoreless and hitless ninth inning as the Dodgers (34-31) hung on to win the series, 3-1, and claim their second home series of the season.

Omaha (28-37) took the first lead of the game when Travis Snider hit a solo homer onto the Devon Deck in right field to give Omaha a 1-0 advantage in the top of the second inning.

The Dodgers scored three runs on three extra-base hits in the third inning to take the lead.

Antoan Richardson doubled with one out before Charlie Culberson connected on a RBI triple to score Richardson and tie the game, 1-1.

Austin Barnes followed with a two-run homer onto the Budwesier Deck in left field to put the Dodgers in front, 3-1. The home run was the first of the season for Barnes, who just returned to OKC after being optioned following a stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A RBI single to center field by Tony Cruz cut the Dodgers' lead to 3-2 in the sixth inning.

The Dodgers extended their lead in the sixth inning. Rob Segedin reached on an Omaha throwing error by third baseman Hunter Dozier. O'Koyea Dickson followed with a RBI triple to right field to score Segedin and put the Dodgers ahead, 4-3. Micah Johnson followed with a RBI groundout to put Oklahoma City in front, 5-2.

Oklahoma City starting pitcher Zach Lee (7-5) earned his seventh victory of the season, holding Omaha to two runs and seven hits over 7.0 innings. He did not issue a walk and struck out four.

He was replaced by Grant Dayton on the mound in the top of the eighth inning.

Omaha then cut into Oklahoma City's lead in the eighth inning on back-to-back two-out RBI doubles by Snider and Fuenmayor. The Storm Chasers hit three doubles in the inning to cut the Dodgers' lead to 5-4.

Omaha starting pitcher John Lannan (5-6) pitched an eight-inning complete game, allowing five runs (three earned) and five hits. He issued one walk and struck out six in the loss.

The Storm Chasers outhit the Dodgers, 10-5, in the game that lasted 2 hours, 10 minutes. The game was the Dodgers' shortest nine-inning game of the season.

The Dodgers next open a four-game road series against the New Orleans Zephyrs at 7 p.m. Friday at Zephyr Field.
