Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The first place El Paso Chihuahuas were too much for the Isotopes to handle this evening, defeating Albuquerque 6-3 from Southwest University Park.

Fresh off the disabled list after taking a line drive to the head on June 4, right-hander Shane Carle suffered the loss. The right-hander went 6.0 innings while allowing four runs on eight hits.

Brian Schlitter would come on to relieve Carle, allowing two runs (one earned) over two innings on the hill for the Isotopes.

As for the club's offense, the Isotopes were actually able to jump out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning. Outfielder Stephen Cardullo launched his team-leading ninth home run of the season off El Paso starter Carlos Pimentel.

First baseman Ben Paulsen and shortstop Rafael Ynoa knocked in a run each for Albuquerque in the sixth and seventh innings respectively. However, three runs was not enough offense for the Isotope, dropping their second game of the series to the Chihuahuas.

The Isotopes and Chihuahuas wrap up their four-game set tomorrow evening from Southwest University Park. Right-hander Jordan Lyles (3-2, 5.54) gets the nod for the Isotopes and will be opposed by the Chihuahuas' Brian Rodriguez (2-0, 0.00). First pitch in the series finale is set for 7:05 p.m.
