Express Hold off Zephyrs Rally

Round Rock, TX - Jared Hoying had a pair of hits and drove in a run as the Round Rock Express defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 3-2 in the final game of the four game series. The teams spilt the series.

Austin Nola singled and scored on a Destin Hood double to give the Zephyrs a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Express answered with a pair of runs in the sixth inning and added a run in the seventh.

Robert Andino drilled a solo home run in the eighth. The Zephyrs threatened with runners left on base in the eighth and ninth but the rally fell short.

Michael Roth pitched seven innings allowed one run on three hits for the win. Dylan Axelrod worked seven innings allowed three runs on six hits and suffered the loss. Anthony Carter pitched the ninth for his second save.

The Zephyrs fall to 32-33 on the season.

GAME NOTES

The Zephyrs fall to 11-11 in games decided one run. Of the Zephyrs 64 games this season, 47 have been decided by three runs or fewer, most in the PCL.

The Zephyrs have won 11 of their last 14 games.

ON DECK 

The Zephyrs return home Friday to open a four game set against Oklahoma City. The Z's will start RHP Jose Urena (1-1, 5.09) against RHP Nick Tepesch (6-2, 3.93) The game will be broadcast on WODT Fox Sports 1280 AM and streamed at iHeart Radio App.
