
Dock Spiders Blank Rafters, Wisconsin Rapids Takes Two of Three in Homestand

The Rafters went 2-1 against the Dock Spiders, in the first three games coming out of the All-Star Break
Wisconsin Rapids, WI - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (24-28) left six runners on base and were kept off the board, falling 4-0 to the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders (32-19) on a Friday night at Witter Field.
Sterling Hayes (Creighton) led off the game and roped a double to left-center, on the first pitch. Hayes was left on third, and Wisconsin Rapids would get only two hits the rest of the way.
Justin Beyer (Wagner) got his first start of July and threw five scoreless innings stranding four Dock Spiders on. In the sixth, Fondy got runners on, lining three doubles and bring home three runs. Beyer finished 5.1 innings, striking out two but allowing three earned runs.
The Dock Spiders added another run, in the seventh off a throwing error. Though two potential runs were thrown out at home in the inning, one by Hayes and the other from EJ Exposito (Long Island) onto Angelo D'Acunto (Holy Cross).
Jacob Hinderleider (Davidson) led off the bottom of the seventh, with a double to right, he had the other two hits for Wisconsin Rapids. The last eight Rafters hitters were retired.
Brayden Bonner (Dixie State) hurled a scoreless eighth, and Hunter Waldis (Seton Hall) threw in the ninth.
Wisconsin Rapids begin a four-game road trip tomorrow July 24th. They head out to Battle Creek, Michigan, to face off against the Battle Creek Bombers. First pitch is at 5:35 p.m. You can listen to the action on WFHR AM 1320.
