
Mallards Look for Another Sweep of Growlers

Following a tight 5-4 win on Thursday night in the first game out of the all-star break, the Madison Mallards (9-5) once again host the Kalamazoo Growlers (5-10) in the series finale.
Last night the Mallards lost their starting pitcher just two outs into the game, but the rest of their pitching staff stepped up and struck out 14 Growlers hitters on the night.
Peyton Winebarger (North Carolina A&T State) picked up the win, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings and Jared Fong (Washington - St. Louis) got the save, also pitching 2.2 innings and striking out five.
Tonight, the Mallards will send Eliot Turnquist (UW-Milwaukee) to the hill to start. Turnquist has made seven starts on the season as he owns a 6.92 ERA in 26 total innings pitched.
Starting on the mound for the Growlers will be Hayden Berg (Western Michigan). Berg has made six starts this season and eight appearances, owning a 3.15 ERA in 34.1 total innings pitched.
The Mallards are a perfect 3-0 against Kalamazoo this season and tonight will be the final matchup between these two teams this season. This will also be the final matchup for the Mallards against any team outside of the Great Lakes West division.
Last night the Mallards had a season-high in attendance with 5,543 fans in the stands. Tonight, it will be Princesses and Princes night at the Duck Pond at Warner Park while also being 90's night in the Great Dane Duck Blind with a live DJ.
Following tonight's game the Mallards will stay home to host the Wisconsin Woodchucks. Saturday will once again be a 6:35 p.m. first pitch with Sunday then being a day game starting at 1:05 p.m.
