MANCHESTER, N.H. - Nicklas Bergfors potted a pair of goals and Jeff Frazee made 33 saves as the Lowell Devils ended a five-game winless streak with a 3-1 win over the Manchester Monarchs on Friday at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Down, 1-0, after the Monarchs applied heavy pressure early in the game, Bergfors tied the contest at 14:16 of the second period with his first of night. Ryan Murphy came off the bench and flashed into the Manchester zone to receive a pass from Michael Swift. Though his shot from the far circle was stopped by Jonathan Bernier, Bergfors was on top of the crease to put back the rebound.

The Devils would tally the lone goal of the second period and also take their first lead of the game thanks to Bergfors' team-leading 18th goal of the season. While skating 5-on-4, Bergfors pulled off the far wall and lasered a wrist shot into the top corner past a screened Bernier.

With the Monarchs vying for the tying goal in the final frame, Jay Leach iced the game for Lowell with 1.2 seconds left on an end-to-end empty netter.

Manchester came out flying from the start and took the 1-0 lead on their first power play of the match. Stationed at the far corner in the Devils end, Matt Moulson centered to a cutting Scott Parse, who knocked in the puck past Frazee at 4:55.

The Devils' goaltender was perfect for the rest of the game in gathering his 23rd win of the season.

The Lowell Devils continue their four-game road stretch on Saturday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. versus the Portland Pirates in Lewiston, ME. For more information about individual tickets and group packages for Devils home games, call (978) 458-PUCK (7825) or log on to www.lowelldevilshockey.com.
