Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose kicked off their six-game road trip with a 4-3 victory against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday night at the Copps Coliseum. Jason Krog, Mike Keane, Guillaume Desbiens and Michael Grabner notched goals for the Moose, while goaltender Cory Schneider earned his second victory over the club by stopping 30 attempts.

Manitoba received the first powerplay of the game when Kevin Chipchura was penalized for interference a mere 2:46 into the match-up. The Moose put extra pressure on Marc Denis, but unfortunately couldn't break the 31 year-old tender on the man-advantage.

At 6:33, Mario Bliznak's tripping sentence handed the Bulldogs their first powerplay, but Manitoba's penalty killers and goaltender Cory Schneider ensured the home team wouldn't break their goose-egg.

The Moose opened the scoring 1:05 into the second stanza. With help from Michael Grabner and Guillaume Desbiens, leading scorer Jason Krog wired the puck past Denis for a 1-0 lead.

A high-sticking penalty to Dylan Yeo, near the midway point of the game, put the Bulldogs on their fourth powerplay of the night. Hamilton tallied four shots in the two minutes, but key saves by Schneider and one by the goal-post, kept the Bulldogs off the board.

At 16:10 Yannick Weber slapped the loose puck over Schneider to knot the game at one. Minutes later the Moose regained their lead when Captain Mike Keane notched his seventh of the season, unassisted, for a 2-1 tally.

At 4:09, an interference call directed towards the Bulldogs put Manitoba on their third powerplay, and this time they connected. Guillaume Desbiens netted his 17th goal of the season, on the PP, for a 3-1 lead.

With a last minute surge, the Bulldogs got back within a goal. At 19:23 Mike Glumac shot the puck through Schneider's five-hole, 3-2. Twenty-three seconds later Brock Trotter tied the game at three, looking like overtime would be needed to decide a winner.

With nine seconds left in regulation time, Michael Grabner slapped the puck into the net to win the game, 4-3.
