Albany Devils News Release
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Chad Wiseman scored for the sixth consecutive game and Jeff Frazee won his sixth straight start as the Lowell Devils defeated the Providence Bruins, 3-1, on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The victory was the seventh in their last eight games for the Devils.
Clinging to a 2-1 edge in the third period, Lowell was able to find some breathing room with the help of the man-advantage and Wiseman's hot hand. Jon DiSalvatore fired a pass from center ice that sprung Wiseman into the Providence zone, where he broke in on goalie Tuukka Rask and found the back of the net.
Devils goaltender Jeff Frazee had only one blemish on his 29-save performance and picked up his sixth win of the year. He has allowed only 10 goals during his current winning streak and has not lost in regulation or overtime since November 8.
Alexander Vasyunov's fourth goal in five games gave Lowell a 1-0 lead at 7:01 of the first. After defenseman Anssi Salema carried the puck across the blueline, Vasyunov took a drop pass and cut towards the slot before firing a wrist shot under the cross bar.
At 6:28 of the second the Devils made the score 2-0 when Wiseman fed a cross-ice pass along Bruins' blueline to a streaking Brad Mills. Mills skated alone down the left side of the zone and beat Rask with wrister inside the near post for his second goal of the year.
Providence cut into Lowell's lead at 12:21 of the same period on their third power play of the game. Vladimir Sobotka snuck in from the far circle and flipped a pass to the right post, where Martins Karsums stood alone to tap the puck past Frazee.
