Pirates at Coats & Toys for Kids This Saturday

December 5, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Portland Pirates News Release

Portland, Maine - Pirates defenseman Mike Card will be helping collect donations as part of the 10th Annual Coats & Toys for Kids Day on Saturday, December 6th. Card, along with Pirates mascot Salty Pete, will be at the Pratt-Abbott Cleaners location at 1065 Forest Avenue in Portland from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. to help collect coats and toys and give away tickets to fans who donate.

The Pirates were able to collect over 500 toys at their November 29th home game at the Civic Center. The toys were picked up for distribution by The Salvation Army and will go to help make the holidays brighter for those who might otherwise go without.

Other statewide live locations are listed on the WCSH Channel 6 website as soon as they are finalized. Please drop off collected coats and toys on either day of Coats & Toys for Kids Day to be part of the fun and festivities.

Coats can be dropped off at any Hannaford or Shaw's Supermarkets statewide between November 24th and December 31st, 2008. Toys must be dropped off no later than December 14 in order for The Salvation Army to get them to families in time for the holidays.

Several Maine businesses collaborate annually on Coats for Kids, including Shaw's, Hannaford Supermarkets, Pratt-Abbott Cleaners, Pepsi, WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2, and The Salvation Army. Maine Oil Dealers Association sponsors Coats & Toys for Kids Day.

The Pirates thank all of those who support this worthwhile cause.
