Albany Signs Patrick Bordeleau To PTO

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that they have signed left wing Patrick Bordeleau to a professional tryout contract, calling him up from the ECHL.

Bordeleau, 22, comes to Albany from the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL, who ceased operations on Monday; in 18 games for Augusta this season he ranked second on the Lynx with 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) and led the team with 57 penalty minutes. The Montreal, Quebec native was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round (114th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry draft, after his first season of major junior hockey. Bordeleau (6'6", 225 lbs) played three more seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) before turning pro; in 218 career QMJHL games he scored 133 points (51 goals, 82 assists) and had 267 penalty minutes.

Bordeleau made his professional debut on November 15, 2007 with the Charlotte Checkers (ECHL) and finished the 2007-08 season with 51 ECHL games played, 22 points (8 goals, 14 assists) and 71 PIMs for three teams: Charlotte, Wheeling and Pensacola. Bordeleau joined the River Rats for their pre-game skate Friday morning and is expected to be in the lineup Friday night against Norfolk for his American Hockey League debut.

The River Rats host the Norfolk Admirals for the second straight game at 7:00 pm on Friday night, December 5th at the Times Union Center. Albany will then hit the road two games this weekend in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Rochester.
