Grand Rapids Griffins vs. Hamilton Bulldogs
Saturday 8 p.m. Van Andel Arena
- After being assigned by the Red Wings to Grand Rapids for conditioning yesterday, future Hall of Famer Chris Chelios is slated to play for the Griffins tonight against Toronto and Saturday versus Hamilton. The 46-year-old defenseman, who is coming back from a broken tibia sustained during the preseason, will become the oldest player in both the Griffins' 13 seasons and the 73-year history of the American Hockey League when he takes to the ice tonight.
- The Griffins have earned points in five straight games (4-0-0-1) and in six of their last seven outings (4-1-0-2) overall, while a seven-game home point streak (5-0-0-2) has given them an impressive 7-1-0-3 record at Van Andel Arena.
- Tonight's game features a Niklas Kronwall Jersey Card giveaway to the first 1,500 fans, as well as another Dollar Beers, Dollar Dogs night with $1 hot dogs and $1 domestic drafts from 6-8 p.m., while supplies last. In addition, college students with valid I.D. and public library cardholders can purchase lower bowl tickets to tonight's game for just $10 each.
- On Saturday, Hannah Montana's Emily Osment will meet fans and sign autographs from 7-8 p.m. prior to the game against Hamilton, courtesy of Lighthouse Insurance Group. Griffins players will sign autographs after the game, and fans can bring their skates and take to the ice for the post-game open skate.
