ALLENTOWN, PA -- The Albany Devils used three, third period goals to erase a deficit and down the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, 3-2, Friday at PPL Center. Rod Pelley, Paul Thompson and Stefan Matteau took advantage of three consecutive Phantoms penalties to give Albany (18-14-2-5) its second consecutive victory and hand Lehigh Valley (18-13-4-1) only its third regulation loss on home ice.

Scott Clemmensen backstopped the Devils to their third win against the Phantoms this season. He made a season-high 32 saves and helped Albany go 7-7 on the penalty kill.

A Nick Cousins' four-on-four goal at 6:29 of the second period opened the scoring and gave the Phantoms a 1-0 advantage. However, Pelley tied the contest when he put home a loose puck in front at 5:05 of the third period. Although it wasn't ruled a power-play goal, time had just expired on a Phantoms power play; Matteau and Dan Kelly registered the assists.

The Devils grabbed their first lead of the game when Reece Scarlett sprung Thompson for a breakaway five minutes later on the power play. For his team-leading 19th goal, Thompson went high gloveside on Phantoms netminder Anthony Stolarz at 10:12. Clemmensen picked up the second assist.

Andrew Gordon tied the score at 11:30, but Matteau netted the game-winning goal with a wrister through the legs of Stolarz at 13:17. David Wohlberg and Seth Helgeson setup Matteau at the left face-off circle, while playing five-on-four.

The team combined for 17 power play chances and 58 penalty minutes. Albany owned a 36-34 shot advantage.
