Lightning Recall Witkowski from Syracuse

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled defenseman Luke Witkowski from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced. Additionally, the team announced that forward Vladislav Namestnikov has been reassigned to the Crunch.

Witkowski, 24, has appeared in 36 games with the Crunch this season, posting a goal and six points to go along with 75 penalty minutes. He ranks fourth on the Crunch for penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 213-pound defenseman has skated in 115 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over the past three seasons, recording three goals and 18 points. The Holland, Michigan native led all Syracuse skaters last season with 204 penalty minutes.

Witkowski was recalled by the Lightning on October 19, 2014 but did not see any game action and was reassigned to Syracuse four days later. He skated in four preseason games with Tampa Bay this season, recording an assist and 11 penalty minutes.

Namestnikov, 22, has skated in 25 games with the Lightning this season, recording three goals and seven points to go along with six penalty minutes. He skated in each of the Lightning's past two games after being recalled by the team on Tuesday morning. The 6-foot, 182-pound forward has played in 16 games with the Crunch, registering seven goals and 17 points. He ranks fifth on Syracuse for points despite only appearing in 16 games.
