Denis Returns to Norfolk, Munce Reassigned to Mississippi

NORFOLK, VA - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, reassigned goaltender Marc Denis to the Admirals on Sunday, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced. In addition, Norfolk Admirals General Manager Claude Loiselle announced that goaltender Ryan Munce was reassigned to the ECHL's Mississippi Sea Wolves on Sunday.

Denis, a 6-foot-1, 193-pound native of Montréal, Québec, served as the backup for the Lightning during their two most recent games. He is a veteran of 348 NHL games with the Lightning, Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche. He has compiled a 112-179-31 record with a 3.02 GAA and .902 SV% in his NHL career. This season with the Lightning, the 11th year pro has compiled a 1-5-0 record with a 4.05 GAA and .859 SV%.

Denis joined the Admirals at the end of December and has gone 9-15-2 in 28 games with Norfolk with a 3.09 GAA and .905 SV%. He was especially strong during March, going 4-4-0 with a 2.66 GAA and .930 SV% in nine games. In 127 career AHL games with Norfolk and the Hershey Bears, Denis is 46-61-11 with a 2.91 GAA and .907 SV%.

Denis was selected by Colorado in the first round (25th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Denis spent parts of three seasons with Colorado before being traded to Columbus during the 2000 off-season. He spent five seasons with the Blue Jackets and set a NHL record in 2002-03 when he played 4511 minutes.

Munce, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario, appeared in one game during his most recent callup, earning the victory in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Manchester Monarchs at Scope. Munce has now appeared in ten games with the Admirals this season, posting a 3-6-0 record with a 2.99 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. Munce registered his first career AHL victory on October 13 with the Admirals at Albany.

Munce has appeared in 33 games with the Sea Wolves this season posting an 18-15-0-0 record with a 2.80 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. The 23-year-old netminder was acquired by the Lightning from the Los Angeles Kings on January 20, 2007, in exchange for a 2008 fourth-round draft pick.

The Admirals will travel to Philadelphia on Wednesday night before rounding out the 2007-08 home schedule with a pair of contests against the Albany River Rats on Friday and Saturday next week.
