Moran Named Rbk/AHL Player Of The Week

The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, today announced forward Brad Moran has been named RBK/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 30th.

Moran, 29, appeared in all four Moose games this past week, earning one goal and seven assists for eight points. He collected three assists in Tuesday's 7-2 win over Lake Erie before adding two more assists in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over Rochester. He scored his 21st goal of the season to tie for the team lead Friday in Rochester and then added another assist Saturday in Toronto. Those points extended Moran's points streak to a season-high nine games, which is just two games shy of Manitoba's franchise record. Moran's point streak continues into this week's games and also includes a franchise-record seven straight multi-point games. The Abbotsford, B.C. native finished the week with 12 shots on net and was even in the plus/minus category.

In the month of March alone, Moran picked up 21 points in just 13 games (5G, 16A), including 18 points (4G, 14A) during Manitoba's franchise record-tying 10-game winning streak. Moran is now sixth in the entire AHL in scoring with 72 points and is fifth in the league in assists with 51. He also leads the Moose in game-winning goals with six and shots on goal with 173.

In 470 career AHL games with the Moose and the Syracuse Crunch, Moran has tallied 144 goals and 241 assists for 385 points and 307 penalty minutes. He has also played eight career NHL games - five with the Columbus Blue Jackets and three with the Vancouver Canucks - where's he's earned one goal and two assists for three points and four penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro in 2000-01, Moran played five seasons with the WHL's Calgary Hitmen, averaging well over a point per game with 204 goals and 246 assists for 450 points in 357 games.

Moran was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round, 191st overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
