SYRACUSE STREAKING: The Syracuse Crunch are on an amazing run. The team has tied a franchise record by winning eight straight games and is currently riding a franchise record and AHL season-high 16 game points streak.
In their past 23 games, the Crunch have amassed a record of 17-1-0-5, good for 39 out of a possible 46 points.
CRUNCH MOVE ABOVE .500 ALL-TIME: In their 14-year history, the Syracuse Crunch have had many memorable seasons, including this one. About to enter their 15th anniversary season in 2008-09, the Crunch have reached an important milestone.
With Friday's overtime win over Albany, the Crunch's all-time record moved to 472-471-96-52-21, one game over the .500 mark. Syracuse's win over Lake Erie Saturday in overtime gave the franchise 473 wins.
OVERTIME WINNERS: The Syracuse Crunch like to work overtime. The team's record this year in games decided in the extra-session (not counting shootouts) is 7-2. Ironically enough, Crunch defensmen have scored three of the seven winning goals, including two from Marc Methot.
HOME COOKING: The Crunch continue their winning ways at the War Memorial at Oncenter. The Crunch are 11-0-0-1 in their last 12 home games and are winners of seven straight at home.
On the season, the Crunch own a 23-9-1-3 home record, good for a .694 winning percentage and fifth best in the AHL behind only Chicago, Providence, Toronto and Portland. Syracuse has outscored the opposition 115-87 on home ice.
39...AND COUNTING: Durning the 2005-06 season, the Syracuse Crunch set franchise records for wins (47) and points (102) in a season. In 2001-02, the Crunch had their second best regular season record ever, going 39-23-13-5 and racked up 96 points.
Saturday night's win over Lake Erie was the 39th of the season for the Crunch, tying the mark for the second most wins during the regular season in Crunch history. One more regular season win will mark the second time in the Crunch's 14-year history that the team has reached the 40-win plateau.
THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS:
BINGHAMTON SENATORS (OTTAWA SENATORS): The Binghamton Senators make the trek up I-81 Wednesday night for the seventh of eight meetings on the season between these two teams. ROCHESTER AMERICANS (BUFFALO SABRES/FLORIDA PANTHERS): The Rochester Americans make the one-hour and fifteen minute drive east on I-90 Friday night for the tenth of twelve meetings between these two teams this season. The Crunch dropped the first two meetings of the year against Rochester, but have rattled off the last seven against their neighboring arch-rivals.
