Defenseman Rob Kwiet Returns to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Rob Kwiet has been returned to the Royals from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. In other transactions announced today, the Royals (i) loaned goaltender Bobby Jarosz to the Hershey Bears of the AHL; and (ii) signed goaltender Shane Davis as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender. In transactions previously completed, Reading placed defenseman Cody Wild on the 3-Day Injured Reserve and moved forward Vladimir Nikiforov from the 7-Day Injured Reserve to the 7-Day Injured Reserve

Kwiet, a second year pro from Toronto, Ontario, was loaned to the Sound Tigers on February 22. He picked up four penalty minutes in Bridgeport's 4-1 win over the Providence Bruins on Wednesday. In thirty-nine games with the Royals, Kwiet has eighteen points (4g-14a) and thirty-five penalty minutes. He leads the team with fifteen power play points (3g-12a). The Royals acquired Jarosz from the South Carolina Stingrays on February 19. He picked up the win in Reading's 6-3 victory over the Trenton Devils on Wednesday (1-0-0-0, 3.00 gaa, .914 save %). This is the fourth time that Davis, who hails from Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, has served as the Royals' Emergency Back-Up Goaltender. He was also signed to an ECHL contract on February 17 and released on February 19. Davis has not appeared in any game action for Reading this season. This is Wild's first stint on the Injured Reserve for the Royals. He has eleven points (1g-10a) in 25 games with Reading this year.

The Royals travel to Elmira, New York today (Saturday, February 26, 2011 @ 7:35) where the team will face the Elmira Jackals at First Arena.
